Ok, I'm still not 100% sure this all happened, but if it was a dream, there were 10 other people that had the same dream as me... It all started when me and James took off for our cold bike ride down to the student house. When we get there, we talk to a few folks and then head down to Christiania. For those of you that don't know of this interesting "free town" you should check it out. Anywho, since Pris, Jessy, Steve and Jo hadn't arrived yet, me and James started warming out hands by one of those 50 gallon barrels when this shady looking guy comes up to us and tells us that if we dont want to get any hash from him, we had to leave, so, being the good kids we are, we walked around a bit and looked for the venue where we were going to watch mewithoutYou play later on that night. After wandering around and calling Pris and Jessy and both our cellphones dying, we find the place and go in. We wait around for about an hour or so for the opening band to come out. They were a local Danish band called Sinai, but theyre not really worth talking about, so we won't dwell on them. After several songs from The Killers, The Cure, and mewithoutYou's love child band, mewithoutYou took the stage. Man, you would think that these guys, since theyre kind of a big band, would not come out looking like homeless people, but sure enough, just about all of them looked like random bums off the street that just showed up to play. But, despite their outward appearance, they put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. How these guys can get so wrapped up in the music and so passionate about it was great to see. After playing songs from all 3 of their cds, and an encore, I was hanging around the lead singer, Aaron, to get something signed for a friend, and maybe talk a bit. All of the sudden, he goes, "Oh man! We need to find a place to stay tonight!!" This is where things get interesting. I looked to Pris and Jo and was like, "He just said they needed a place to stay. What about the sleep-in (the CIMC living area)? They thought it was a good idea, so I offered it to him and he was more than happy to take the offer. So after making some phone calls to Alicia, I left with James to go and make the place nice for them. Cat and Amanda had already gotten some things ready, so that was great. We set up James' room and the lounge as rooms for the 2 couples, and got 5 other beds ready in the 2 guy's rooms. When the finally show up, all the guys cram into one of the rooms set up for the couple, and they were all happy there, so we had over prepared. The bass player and "singer" were in our room, and the rest of the guys (except for the other couple) were in that one room and didn't want to leave. It was a bit hard to go to bed considering the frontman of one of my favorite bands was sleeping across the room from me, but sleep finally came and was abruptly stopped thanks to my alarm clock. I got up early for breakfast with the band and to see them off. They enjoyed the stuff set out by Jessy and Jo, and were soon back on the road. So that concludes our mewithoutYou experience. I think that makes this the coolest Master's program around... for sure. Nate
man, another year has come and gone, and even though it seemed that this year would never end, its seems to have passed us by too quickly. i think i had the most uneventful new years eve i have ever had, or ever will have (i hope...). Grandparents had some people from their neighborhood for some appetizers at 6. Then they moved on to another home for the main course and then another house for dessert. what did i do, you might ask... well, i just sat around their house and watched poker on tv and finished packing for my voyage back to good ol' copenhagen. since i had to be up and ready to go at about 4 am to catck my flight to newark, where i will have to find something to do for about 8 hours while i wait for my flight from there to dk, i went to bed at about 11:30, so no, i didnt ring in the new year with a whole bunch of people and all that good stuff. well, right now i'm sitting at gate number 8 waiting for my plane and hoping that my overweight bags make it to my destinatioin... dang Nate
Alright, today was great. Right in the middle of devos, John and Helena walked in and everything was interupted for a brief 3-4 minutes. After devos, I'm in my room, and good ol' John walks in with my brand new MacBook, so that made my day, and quite possibly my year. Its all so new and fun to explore. I'm seeing already though that my social life is going to slowly diminish, but thats fine. (I need some time away from all these crazies anyway)... Well, as most of you know, the new MacBooks come with a facy dancy camera on the top of the monintor, so that obviously adds a whole lot of fun to ones day, especially if you're around friends... Enough for now, pics will be posted later... Nate
Currently Listening Illinois By Sufjan Stevens John Wayne Gacy Jr. see related
ok, so we saw Sufjan Stevens play on sunday. That was probably the highlight of my week. As a matter of fact , that was the highlight of my week, and possibly month. But we have done some cool stuff since then. We (me, Jessy, Greg, Steve, and Steven) had to help out with the church news so we decided to make it as rediculous a possible. So here it is...
And then, we had some free time, so we decided to goof off in the studio for a bit longer. And then, as we were importing the video, we saw some interesting things on that tape, so Jessy get around to editing it and having some fun with that... Here goes:
And are some illegal photos from the Sufjan concert, booya...
Ok, so I got some of the pics of our halloweenerness off of Jessy's computer... So here goes:
"Some say Love..." The Trick or Treators... Me killed by my ninja roommate, Greg Pretty much the coolest one we took... us once again.
And another thing, today after devos, we went outside to find this:
Ok, so it wasnt really real snow, but come on, its been 13 years since i've seen anything frozen fall from the sky, so give the poor missionary kid a break... Nate
